Missouri Graduated Driver's License Requirements

Instruction Permit (Age 15+)

  • • Pass knowledge test
  • • Pass vision screening
  • • Hold for 182 days minimum
  • • Parental consent required

Intermediate License (Age 16+)

  • • 40 hours supervised driving
  • • 10 hours nighttime driving
  • • Complete driver education
  • • Pass road skills test

Full License (Age 18+)

  • • 12 months intermediate license
  • • No traffic violations
  • • No at-fault accidents
  • • Full driving privileges

Note: Missouri requires all drivers under 18 to complete a state-approved driver education program to be eligible for an intermediate license at age 16. Without driver education, you must wait until age 18.
